Clan Ethereal was formed on the 7th August 2004 by 5 like minded gamers wishing to create an environment where they could enjoy their gaming. Those 5 people being Dufus, Eagle, Helis, Tekno and Warlord. Ethereal began life as a humble Enemy Territory (ET) clan and has since diversified, grown and evolved as the gaming landscape has changed.

Clan Ethereal was founded with the key principle of "fun and friendship first, competitive gaming second" in mind. Too often we see people trying to become pro gamers and put winning ahead of all else. This leads to much angst and disharmony amongst members who at the end of the day we come online to have fun and forget about the real world. Our first priority is for everybody who comes into the clan to have fun and enjoy themselves without causing harm to others. Everybody is encouraged to participate in as many different games as possible. We aim to create a very social environment where everybody interacts with each other regardless of which division they are in. Furthermore, we put very few demands on our members except to respect everybody else, have fun and be true to the founding principles of the clan.

The structure of the clan consists of the Ethereal council at the top. The council is made up of 5 experienced clan members who are responsible for guiding the philosophy, direction and culture of the clan. Answering to the council are the division leaders who hold most of the useful power within the clan. They are responsible for the successful operation of their respective division including organisation, recruiting, removal of trouble makers and ensuring the environment of the clan remains true to its principles. Below the division leaders are the division captains who assist the division leaders in running and managing their division. Finally there are the most important part of the clan are the clan members. Many clan members play in many different Clan members have the ability to consult the council if they feel they have been treated unfairly by division leaders or captains.

Our structure and guiding principles has lead to the formation of a culture that is unique in clan circles. Many people have come and gone through Clan Ethereal and they all comment that being in Ethereal is the most enjoyable clan experience they've had. In fact we still consider many former members that have left or lost touch to still be part of the family and will be welcomed back at any time.
